Hi,

I have the following situations:

We are implementing SAP BW as backend data warehouse system and BOBJ for frontend reporting. We have requirements of many canned reports and also we want to use most of the BW Std.Content reports. Moreover, we want to expose data from all our cubes to the endusers to build their adhoc reports.

What tools should we be using for each of the above requirements (canned reports, Business Content queries & Adhoc reports)? Appreciate your responses.

Thanks

Hi,

I would suggest you start with the roadmap for BI and BusinessObjects to see the positioning of the tools. Then spend some time on the BusinessObjects material to see the differences between the tools.

Prabu,

For all types of reports, you will need to install the SAP Integration Kit for the BOBJ tools to access the BW queries. You also need to set the option 'Allow external access to this query' for the BW queries in the BEx Query Designer.

For canned reports, you use Crystal Reports or LiveOffice in MS Office applications. To run LiveOffice, you need a BOBJ Premium license or addon license.

For Business content queries and adhoc queries, after you allow external access, you can create Universes for the queries. Users can generate adhoc reports using the Universes.
